My name is Ilona Burghardt and I was born in London, Ontario. I attended the University of Western Ontario and the Ontario College of Art.

Each piece of artwork that I create is like embarking on an adventure. I have an idea, I decide what materials I would like to use and then the process of creation starts. I find this process so exhilarating and challenging that to me, 3 or 4 hours can pass by and it seems like 5 minutes. Each medium has its own challenges, and I enjoy switching from one medium to another. I work in soft pastels, oil pastels, acrylics, oils, watercolour, charcoal, pencil and ink.

In addition to being a member of the Gallery Painting Group, I participate in Art in the Park which runs the whole summer at Springbank Park, every Sunday.
